A budget allows you to plan ahead what income and expenses you will have and how you will pay for them.

Consider your expenses. When you design a budget remember to include all the household expenses you incur throughout the year.
Examples of expenses found in a budget include - assests, bank charges, car, donations, clothing, education, gifts,  healthcare, household expenses, insurance, investments, living expenses, mortgage, and taxes. There are two key elements of a budget that people often forget to include.

The first is a contingency expense of 10% of your income, for unforseen expenses that arise throughout the year. These may include additional medical expenses, breakdown of a washing machine, dishwasher, hot water service, or financial education, over and above what you have already budgeted for. This ability to budget for unexpected events will remove the extra stress at the right time.

The second is to budget for saving and investment. Ideally you would allocate at least 20% of your income for savings and investment, but 10% would be a great start.
An important part of the budgeting process is to review your budget figures against actual income and expenses to ensure you are on the right track.

Google Adsense is a great way to start off making money from your website.

It is free to sign up and easy to implement. Once you have signed up you need to make sure you fully understand their terms and conditions. Generally you are allowed a maximum of 3 google adds on a page, you are not allowed to click on them yourself and you cant put them on inappropriate sites/content. ( adult content..etc.)

One of the best things about these adds is that once you put them on your website – thats it. Each time someone goes to your page or the page is refreshed a new add is displayed. While most of the time the adds displayed are suitable but if you find that one you dont like showing up you can filter it out.

It does take a bit of experimentation with what colors and sizes to put and where and this does depend on the type of website you have. If you place big adds ( this is a great size banner and one that I use the most – 300×250 pixels) above the fold in a prominant place these are more likely to be noticed and clicked on, while adds at the bottom of the page. See here for an explanation of the various banner sizes available.

Google has an excellent help facility and forum that answers any questions you may have about Adsense.
